Repair & RestorationTime and accidents can have a detrimental effect on your piano. Of course if a piano is dropped many problems may occur. However, Time is by far the greatest factor in the performance of your piano. If a piano is well made and properly prepared it will arrive from the factory in perfect working order. The touch will feel just right and the response will be optimal. Strings will resonate beautifully and shine like new. Pins will be tight in the pin block and the piano will hold pitch without any problem. Pedals, screws, action parts, sounding board, and case will all be new and working in perfect order. Time takes its toll on this magnificent instrument. Strings become rusted, brittle, and lose their resonance. Hammers become hard and lose their tonal properties. The touch of the keys will suffer, and the performer will lose response. Pins will not hold the pitch. Soundboards may crack and the case will lose its former luster and glory. Don't run out and buy a new piano. All of the above problems can be corrected within reason using time honored repair and restoration techniques. |
